Sinus tachycardia: Differential diagnosis and treatment

The article provides a review of data on accelerated sinus rhythm and sinus tachycardia (ST). Issues of differential diagnosis are discussed. It was shown that accelerated sinus rhythm is associated with prognosis for healthy people. At sinus rhythm rate higher than 100 bpm, the presence of idiopathic sinus tachycardia syndrome (ISTS) or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is possible. The article presents the conclusion of the International Expert Consensus on diagnostics and treatment of these syndromes. Studies of ivabradine efficacy and safety in ISTS and POTS are cited. Issues of diagnosis and treatment of paroxysmal reciprocal sinus tachycardia are discussed.
