Despite the success of coronary bypass (CB) in improving somatic well-being of patients this surgical intervention has many complications. Metabolic syndrome (MS) greatly contributes to outcomes of surgical interventions in patients with IHD. Postoperative cognitive dysfunctions (POCD) belong to significant complications of CB. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a considerable risk factor (RF) for morbidity, mortality and financial expenses and also a RF for POCD after CB. Metabolic and cognitive disorders greatly influence quality of life of patients in the postoperative period of CB.
