Data accumulated by the present time evidence the existence of multiple pathogenetic links between IHD and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Such interaction results in more severe course of coronary atherosclerosis in patients with COPD. The review addressed and analyzed clinical studies evaluating the role of COPD in development and progression of coronary atherosclerosis using diagnostic methods such as ultrasonography, computed tomography, and coronary angiography.
