Cardiovascular risk in patients with obstructive sleep apnea at outpatient observation: clinical-anamnestic and instrumental parallels

Relevance. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a significant CVD risk factor. Objective. Evaluate CVD RF at OSA defined by means of questionnaire and during cardio-respiratory monitoring. Materials and methods. 261 outpatients with positive result of cardio-respiratory monitoring and 108 outpatients with OSA, defined according to the Berlin questionnaire, were observed. Anthropometrical indicators, EchoCG findings, laboratory data were studied. Results. Patients with OSA, diagnosed at cardio-respiratory monitoring, had bigger left auricle (LA) and thicker LV posterior wall, and less end systolic volume. These patients had higher glucose and TG blood levels and lower HDL concentration. One of the most significant RF at OSA is HDL level (OR=2.7), AH in anamnesis, LA diameter (both OR=1.8), and BMI (OR=1.3). Conclusion. Considering presence of CVD RF at OSA, it is necessary to use more actively OSA screening at examination of cardiologic outpatients by means of questioning with the subsequent objectification at cardio-respiratory monitoring.
