In 2011, European association of echocardiography (EAE) published recommendations on using of pocket EchoCG devices. Such attention paid by one of the leading European associations to a new technology, which was commercialized only in 2009, is accounted for a huge interest of the medical community and various problems arising at carrying out and analyzing EchoCG studies with use of pocket devices. On the one hand, appearance of inexpensive pocket devices made carrying out EchoCG studies possible not only in a EchoCG laboratory, but also during medical examination in a doctor’s office, ER, a hospital ward at patient’s bed or at house-call. On the other hand, increasing number of specialists who carry out EchoCG studies on devices with limited functionality highlights quality control questions. The review provides main recommendations, prospects and problems of application of this new technology in Russia.
