On the ratio of right ventricular and left ventricular chronic heart failure: clinical and historical aspects
Dimov A. S.
In most studies, data on functional features of the left heart are automatically extrapolated to the right heart. According to current data, the right heart is often the first to respond to any LV injury. Left and right ventricular function may change in opposite directions. In patients with bronchial obstruction, left ventricular systolic function mostly increases while the left ventricular one decreases. Structural and functional integrity of both ventricles also allows some specificity and independence of their activity, which should be taken into account during early (preclinical) diagnostics of HF.
