Kryukov N.N., Kachkovsky M.A.
Myocardial infarction is a major cause for development of CHF and permanent impairment of the quality of life (QL). Aim: To evaluate the effect of CHF on QL in patients with MI. Material and methods: Four hundred seventeen patients with MI aged 35 to 89 years (mean age 60.2±0.5 years) including 163 (39.1%) women were evaluated. The QL of patients was studied in the acute period of disease, then after 2 months and one year of disease. Patients were questioned using the Minnesota QL scale and the Quality of Life after Myocardial Infarction scale. Results: CHF is one of the most significant causes for QL impairment in the acute stage of MI and postinfarction period. CHF impairs physical and emotional condition of patients with MI and reduces their social activity. Long-term ACEI treatment, β-adrenoblocker treatment and their combination in the complex therapy for MI provides a moderate improvement of QL. Poor QL parameters in patients on complex drug therapy after 2 months of MI development predetermine a low level of QL in the remote period.
