Study evaluated the effect of the ACE inhibitor (ACEI) fosinopril on vascular platelet hemostasis in patients with arterial hypertension. Sixty-four patients with degree 1 and 2 arterial hypertension were evaluated. It was shown that an efficient 6-month therapy with fosinopril resulted in significant improvement of ADP-induced platelet aggregation. After 12 months of treatment, significant decreases were observed in spontaneous aggregation and thromboxane level and a significant increase in nitric oxide metabolites. A trend toward an increase in prostacyclin level was noted.
