Urgency: The work is a part of the Russian epidemiological prospective study «EPOKHA» in Ryasan region. Aim. Determining the prevalence of signs of chronic heart failure (CHF) in the population of Ryasan region with a focus on structure of cardiovascular diseases resulting in development of heart failure (HF) and with evaluation of efficacy of drug therapy. Material and methods. A representative sample for Ryasan region of 2098 subjects (mean age 44.8±0.42 years) was evaluated. Patients presumably having CHF were revealed using a questionnaire (presence or absence of short breathing, asthenia, tachycardia, edema). Results. 10.3% of individuals with suspected CHF were revealed with 0.8% of patients having signs of severe III–IV functional class (FC). Major diseases resulting in development of CHF included ischemic heart disease (IHD), arterial hypertension (AH) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Management of patients with CHF inadequately frequently included the major groups of drugs recommended for therapy of this disease.
