Urgency. Structured education has been successfully used in treatment of diverse diseases for 20 years. However the education has not been broadly used and studied for efficacy in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF), which is an important medical and social challenge for modern society. Aim: To study efficacy of therapeutic education and out-patient observation in patients with III–IV functional class (FC) CHF. Materials and methods. Fifty-six patients with III–IV FC CHF were enrolled in the study and randomized to the treatment group and the control group at a ratio of 1:2. Patients of the treatment group have undergone a course of therapeutic education with subsequent contacts by phone. Results. A beneficial effect of the used program on clinical condition, quality of life, functional and geometric parameters of the left ventricle (LV) and pharmaco-economic parameters was demonstrated.
