Quality of Life of Patients With the Ascending Aorta Aneurism After Valve- Sparing Surgery

Surgical treatment of patients with an aneurysm of the ascending aorta (AVOA) with concomitant aortic insufficiency (AH) is still one of the most difficult areas of cardiovascular surgery. The long-term functional results of the valve-preserving operations are comparable to the prosthetic repair of the aortic root by a valvular conduit, allowing the preservation of the native aortic valve (AK) and eliminating the pathologically altered aorta without loss of quality of life (QoL) characteristic of patients with a valve-containing conduit [1, 2]. Despite the successes and progress of valve-preserving surgeries, the proportion of their implementation in the structure of aortic root surgery remains small due to a certain unpredictability and complexity of the technique [3-5]. In order to simplify the implementation of valve-saving operations in 2005, P. Hess suggested the "florida sleeve" technique, which allowed a different look at the conservation of AK [6]. There are a large number of publications demonstrating survival, morbidity and complications in the long-term after valve-saving operations. However, the data on QOL in patients in this category is extremely scarce. This study presents an analysis of QOL in patients with AVOA with concomitant AS after applying the method of reimplantation of the aortic root into the florida sleeve as compared to AK reimplantation (T. David's operation).
